Small Claims
Small claims court is a division of the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario that provides individuals and companies a venue to address their legal issues and concerns in front of a Judge in disputes not exceeding $25,000. In these circumstances the party that commences the action is called the Plaintiff and the party who defends the action is called the Defendant. Some examples of matters heard in Small Claims Court include:

Defendants: Please note that if you have already been served with a Form 7A, (Plaintiff’s Claim) you have only 20 days from the date of service for you to respond. Should you exceed the 20 days you may be found in default and judgement will be held against you. If you have exceeded the 20 days please call our office as soon as possible to discuss ways in which you may have the judgement set aside.
